IMG9 is a free, browser-based image converter, optimizer, cropper, and resizer. It handles format conversion between PNG, JPG and WebP. IMG9 compresses images to smaller file sizes. IMG9 crops images to exact dimensions and aspect ratios. IMG9 scales your images to precise pixel targets. IMG9 exports ready-to-use image files for web publishing, social media platforms, paper print sizes, and award submission programs.
Every one of these operations runs entirely within your browser through client-side JavaScript. When you select an image in IMG9, your browser reads the file from your device into its own memory. Your edits, high-quality resampling and interactive crop selection all happen at your browser. The processed result exists solely in your browser until you download it. At no point during this entire workflow does any image data travel to any server. IMG9 respects your privacy, your trade secrets, your copyrights and intellectual properties.
Our architectural decision shapes everything about IMG9.
IMG9 offers True Privacy by Architecture
Many online image tools process your files on remote servers. They upload your image, perform the conversion or resize on their infrastructure, and return the result. Some promise to delete your file after a set period. That promise, however well-intentioned, still means your image existed on someone else's computer. It was transmitted across the internet, stored on a disk, processed by software you cannot inspect, and then (presumably) deleted on a schedule you cannot verify.
IMG9 works differently at a fundamental, structural level.
We designed the IMG9 to be privacy-first. The IMG9 application contains no server-side image processing code. There is no upload endpoint. There is no file receiving mechanism. There is no temporary storage directory. There is no processing queue. The entire image manipulation engine lives in the JavaScript that your browser downloads and executes locally. Your images physically cannot reach an IMG9 server because no such pathway exists in the codebase.
This is the distinction between a policy and an architecture. A policy says "we will not look at your files". An architecture says "we have no mechanism to receive your files". IMG9 is the latter. Private by design. The privacy guarantee is structural, verifiable by anyone who inspects the application's network activity, and immune to policy changes, security breaches, or human error on the server side.
Verify it yourself
Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and process an image through IMG9. You will see requests for the page itself, fonts, stylesheets, and JavaScript libraries. You will see zero outbound requests carrying image data. The proof is observable, repeatable, and entirely within your control.
Your Intellectual Property, Your Copyrights, Your Rights
IMG9 claims no rights, licenses, sublicenses, or ownership of any kind over any image you process. Your copyrights remain yours. Your trademarks remain yours. Your creative work, your client deliverables, your proprietary designs, and your personal photographs belong entirely and exclusively to you before, during, and after every IMG9 session.
This is a natural consequence of the IMG9 architecture described above. Because IMG9 has no server-side file handling, the platform has no technical capability to access, store, index, copy, redistribute, sublicense, or derive value from your content. The legal assurance and the technical reality are the same statement expressed in two different languages.
Many platforms bury broad licensing language deep within their terms of service, granting themselves rights to use uploaded content for "service improvement", "machine learning", or "promotional purposes". IMG9 has no such clauses because IMG9 has no such capabilities. There is nothing to license because there is nothing to access.
Built for Sensitive and Confidential Work
Every file you open in IMG9 exists only within your browser session. Closing the tab, refreshing the page, or navigating away removes all image data from memory. There is no residual trace on any external system. The session begins and ends on your device, fully under your control.
This makes IMG9 especially well-suited for professionals and organizations that handle material where privacy, confidentiality, and data control are essential requirements.
Legal Documents
Attorneys, paralegals, and legal teams working with case evidence, contracts, court filings, witness photographs, or settlement documentation can convert and resize these images without exposing them to third-party servers. The material stays within the local environment where attorney-client privilege and legal confidentiality apply.
Financial Records
Accountants, auditors, and financial professionals handling scanned invoices, bank statements, tax documents, or internal financial reports can process image files locally. No financial data passes through external infrastructure during the conversion or optimization process.
Proprietary Designs
Industrial designers, architects, engineers, and product teams working with unreleased product renders, technical drawings, patent application images, or pre-launch visual material can prepare export-ready files without sending proprietary designs through external processing pipelines.
Trade Secrets
Organizations handling images that contain or depict trade secrets, manufacturing processes, proprietary formulas, strategic plans, or competitive intelligence can use IMG9 with the assurance that this material remains entirely within the local browser environment throughout processing.
Internal Reports
Teams preparing board presentations, internal strategy decks, HR documentation, performance reviews, or organizational charts containing sensitive personnel data can crop, resize, and convert images locally. IMG9 keeps internal material internal.
Personal Identification
Individuals processing scans of passports, national ID cards, driver licenses, medical records, or personal financial documents can resize and convert these files without uploading them to any server. Personally identifiable information stays on the device where it belongs.
Industrial Design
Industrial designers working with pre-production renders, CMF studies, CAD exports, packaging prototypes, or unreleased consumer product visuals operate under strict NDA and competitive sensitivity. IMG9 allows these files to be cropped, resized, and converted without passing through any external server, thus keeping
pre-launch material entirely within the local environment where it was created.
Architecture and Planning
Architects and planning firms handling scanned site surveys, residential floor plans, client-specific blueprints, structural drawings, or development proposals often work under confidentiality agreements with landowners and private clients. Processing these files locally through IMG9 ensures that sensitive spatial and structural data never touches third-party infrastructure at any stage of preparation or delivery.
A note on your local environment
IMG9's privacy architecture specifically prevents your files from being transmitted to external servers. Please be aware that software running on your own device, including your operating system, web browser, screen-sharing applications, remote desktop sessions, clipboard managers, or enterprise endpoint monitoring tools, may still have visibility into content displayed on your screen. Securing your local computing environment is your responsibility and falls outside the scope of any web-based application. For highly sensitive work, we recommend verifying that your local device and network environment meet your organization's security requirements.
Compliance-friendly by design
For professionals working within regulatory frameworks that mandate strict data handling procedures, IMG9 offers a structurally compliant workflow. Because all processing occurs locally and no data is transmitted, retained, or accessible to third parties, the tool aligns with data minimization principles central to privacy regulations. Your compliance team can verify this by inspecting network traffic during any IMG9 session.
Eight Tools, One Interface
IMG9 consolidates eight distinct image processing capabilities into a single tabbed interface. Each tool is accessible immediately after you select an image. There are no feature gates, no premium tiers, and no usage limits.
Use IMG9 to transform images between PNG, JPG, WebP, and AVIF formats. IMG9 renders a real-time size comparison across formats so you can see exactly how each option affects file weight before you export. Apply quick filters and visual adjustments including brightness, contrast, saturation, hue rotation, blur, and opacity as part of the conversion. Quick filters operate as independent toggles that layer on top of your manual adjustments.
Use IMG9 to compress images with precise quality control from lossless (100) down to maximum compression (1). Four preset levels offer quick starting points: Lossless, Balanced, Aggressive, and Maximum. A live before-and-after comparison shows the original file size against the estimated export size, with savings percentage or size increase displayed in real time.
Use IMG9 to crop images with an interactive visual selector. Choose from eight aspect ratio presets (Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, 9:16, 3:4, 2:3) or enter exact pixel coordinates. Rotate in 90-degree increments and flip horizontally or vertically. The crop area dimensions update in real time as you drag.
Use IMG9 to rUse IMG9 to resize images by entering exact pixel dimensions, adjusting a percentage slider from 10% to 200%, or selecting quick presets (1920w, 1280w, 800w, 400w). A lockable aspect ratio control ensures proportional scaling. Pica.js provides high-quality Lanczos resampling with configurable sharpening.
Use IMG9 to export images at exact pixel dimensions for Open Graph (1200 × 630), social media cards (1200 × 675), professional networking posts (1200 × 627), image board pins (1000 × 1500), Schema structured data (1200 × 900), and social squares (1080 × 1080). Four fill modes handle aspect ratio mismatches: Smart Crop, Fit, Blur Fill, and Stretch. Download individually or as a complete ZIP archive.
Use IMG9 to generate correctly sized images for photo sharing posts, portraits, and stories; video platform thumbnails and channel banners; personal social media covers, posts, and event images; public social media posts and headers; professional social media posts and banners; and entertainment media vertical covers. Each preset produces the exact pixel dimensions the platform requires. Batch download all sizes as a single ZIP.
Use IMG9 to format images for the international A' Design Award submission requirements. Export a 3600 × 3600 main image and 1800 × 1800 optional images as JPGs with 72 DPI metadata tagging. Multiple fill modes handle source images of any proportion: White Background, Smart Crop, and Proportional Fit. Download the main image plus one optional as a submission-ready ZIP.
Fit or crop images to standard paper dimensions at 300 DPI resolution: A4 (2480 × 3508), Legal (2550 × 4200), A5 (1748 × 2480), A6 (1240 × 1748), A7 (874 × 1240), B5 (2079 × 2953), A3 (3508 × 4961), and A8 (614 × 874). JPG exports receive 300 DPI metadata tagging. Four fill modes are available: White Background, Smart Crop, Fit, and Blur Fill. Download all paper sizes as a single ZIP.

The Name
IMG9 combines "IMG", the universal shorthand for image across the web, with "9", a nod to the word "nine" that phonetically completes the word "imagine". Say it aloud: image nine, imagine. The IMG9 name sits at the intersection of the technical and the creative, which is precisely where image processing lives.
